Free Radical Defined
A free radical is a molecule or atom that lacks electrons and tries to steal them from other molecules, thereby damaging them. Free radicals are produced by the normal everyday metabolism in our cells. They are also found in large quantities in cigarette smoke, and are produced when ultraviolet (UV) radiation interacts with cells.
